Blood donation campaigns got huge response with a lot of people showing up in support of saving lives, has collected units enough to support over 1300 patients in need.
DUBAI, UAE, August 30, 2019 — Pure Health laboratories, the largest laboratory operator in the GCC, initiated a blood donation campaign through Pure Health networks, throughout UAE as part of their community support mission. The campaign, witnessing huge response with a lot of people showing up in support of saving lives, has collected units enough to support over 1300 patients in need.
Community here is always in need of blood donors, as any collected unit, lasts for 42 days only, furthermore, blood transfusion is a crucial aspect of most surgeries and certain medical conditions. Donors and those who are willing to donate for the first time are always encouraged to contact the relevant authorities and entities to save lives.
“Blood is usually transfused to replace red blood cells that carry oxygen. Various situations necessitate transfusion: Blood loss due to surgery or a medical procedure or medical conditions that prevent the body from producing new blood cells, among other reasons,” said Dr. Kartik Dave, Pathologist, Pure Health.
“Blood donation is a very healthy practice and has many benefits: medical and social. Firstly, it is a humanitarian act that helps to save lives. Also, regular donation helps to reduce the possibility of heart diseases and strokes. It activates the body to produce new blood cells,” he added.
“We are happy to have been able to contribute to the society and will continue to do so according to our vison of supporting the community,” said Mr. Pramodh Nandakumar, Head of Services at Pure Health.
On an average, 1 donated blood unit (approximately 450 ml) is said to save up to 3 lives. The average adult has about 10 pints of blood, and a typical whole-blood donation is 1 pint. Donating whole blood takes only about 10-15 minutes. One can donate whole blood every 56 days and regular donations are highly encouraged for good health.
